About Freelance
Freelance is a cross platform shell with terminal. The shell is written purely in Java, allowing one to use the same set of commands on any java supported OS. However, a console based terminal for the shell is also being developed that makes some native C calls through JNI.
The application is designed to be similar to the bash shell. The original intent behind freelance was to avoid using DOS, which didn't support features such as autocomplete or thread handling. From that premise, an environment was constructed which has grown from its very humble beginnings into something very rough around the edges, but still useable. The project is working towards certain goals, some of which are listed below:
